WHAT IS MIND & BODY PERFORMANCE' GYM SCHOOL?

Gym School is a 6 week, interactive face to face program for women who want to learn how to use the gym, and get the most out of their exercise..

 

Our program enables women to build their confidence inside an empowering environment dedicated to them as beginners.

 

We teach the skills to exercise & use the gym correctly & safely, while helping you navigate the entirety of your health, fitness & mindset.

Our 2019 curriculum is detailed below (or here) and encompasses the full Mind & Body experience.
 

Gym School is the first of it's kind here in Newcastle NSW, and is run by our founder & head Strength & Conditioning Coach Ellen Travassaros.

HOW DOES GYM SCHOOL WORK?

Every Saturday for 6 weeks we will come together at Mind & Body Performance Newcastle as a team, and get to work on all things gym.

Our curriculum is detailed below (or here), and will be reflected in the 75 minute sessions we complete together each week. 

We offer part-time & full-time enrolments, with the only difference being how many times we see each week, and cost. 

Part-Time - 1 x 75 Minute Session per week | Saturday 9:15-10:30AM 

Full Time - 1 x 75 Minute Session per week | Saturday 9:15-10:30AM & 1 x 60 Minute Session per week from our timetable.

Each week you will book your class dedicated to you as a beginner, and begin to pave your way forward.

At the end of our 6 week Gym School program, we guarantee you will have the skills & confidence to navigate your way around a gym and in your at-home workouts.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The investment for Gym School in 2019 is;

- $25 per week on a part-time basis

(1 x 75 minute session per week)

OR

- $29 per week on a full-time basis

(1 x 75 minute & 1 x 60 minute session per week)

In the gym

Each week we'll work together inside our beginners only gym sessions, where we'll teach you how to exercise safely, with perfect technique & for your progression.

We'll work hard, as a team, and guide you the entire way.

Online

 We'll also navigate all of your questions via our online Facebook Group 'Gym School 2019'.

CLASS TIMETABLE - SESSION 1, 2019

 

1 x class every Saturday from 9:15-10:30AM

(Saturday 19th & 26th January 2019, Saturday 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd February 2019.)

WEEK 1

Welcome to the gym!

Introduction & Assessment

Primary Gym Focus:

  • Introduction to all things gym.

  • Team Assessment.

  • How to warm-up correctly & efficiently.

  • How to cool down & stretch.

  •  Confidence building at it's absolute fun & finest!

WEEK 2

Let's get activated!

Introduction to muscle activation & basic function

Primary Gym Focus:

  • Introduction to the most valuable core exercises for strength & endurance.

  • Introduction to mobility & resistance bands.

  • How to breathe through your exercises.

  • Correct posture and 'where' you should 'feel' it.

  • Drills (we're going to nail everything we learn!).
     

WEEK 3

Let's get moving!

Introduction to bodyweight exercises & movement patterns

Primary Gym Focus: 

  • A complete how-to approach to safely & correctly execute a number of bodyweight exercises & basic movement patterns.

  • Drills (we're going to nail everything we learn!).
     

WEEK 4

Let's get lifting!

Introduction to dumbbells & barbells

Primary Gym Focus: 

  • What are dumbbells & barbells.

  • A complete how-to approach to safely & correctly use them.

  • Learn a number of dumbbell & barbell exercises.

  • Drills including single arm & leg exercises.
     

WEEK 5

Let's get lifting part II!

Introduction to kettlebells & suspension trainers

Primary Gym Focus:

  • What are kettlebells & TRX (suspension trainers)

  • A complete how-to approach to safely & correctly use them.

  • Learn & number of kettlebell & TRX exercises.

  • Drills (we're going to nail everything we learn!).
     

WEEK 6

How to move forward!

Bringing it all together

Primary Gym Focus:

  • To put everything you've learned into a workout that is fun & challenging!

  • Integrate you into our group classes if you choose to stay on with us.

  • We'll make sure you know how to put everything you've learned into real life so you can keep going.

WHO TEACHES GYM SCHOOL?

Gym School is led by Ellen Travassaros, the founder of Mind & Body Performance Newcastle and creator of Gym School.

Experienced by many as a whimsical growth facilitator & creator of positive change for women.

Ellen is one of Newcastle's favourite life mentors and Strength & Conditioning coaches, with a mission to help women rise to their greatest physical & mental resilience.

Gym Schoolers will interact directly with Ellen throughout the 6-week course, with the opportunity to continue working with her in the future.

Terms & Conditions

By enrolling into Gym School you accept the Terms & Conditions outlined below.

Payments

Gym School is a 6 week contract.

 

Payments are debited on a weekly basis and occur on the same day each week, as the day you registered.

E.g. If you registered on a Monday, you will be debited every Monday for 6 weeks or until a total of 6 payments have been received by Mind & Body Performance Newcastle.

If you need to cancel or miss a week due to unforeseen events, these sessions can be made up in the weeks that follow, e.g. If you miss your session in week 5 due to being unwell, you can do 2 sessions in week 6 (1 from our timetable).

Cancelation Policy

Gym School does not offer a cancelation policy however we do offer a money back guarantee. .

 

We ask that you thoroughly consider your commitment prior to enrolling into Gym School.

 

Leniency will always be offered in extenuating circumstances. Please communicate with your coach via email at ellen@mindbodynewcastle.com.au if needed. 

We reserve the right to debit your account for a maximum of 6 weeks or, until a total of 6 payments have been received. 

Money Back Guarantee

We take pride in the experiences we create and provide to every human we work with.

If you are unhappy, unsatisfied or feel let down by your coach, please communicate this via email and under fair circumstances, your money will be refunded back to you.

Safety

At times we remove our enclosed footwear to lift heavy things. This will be done under the guidance of your coach. If you choose to remove your footwear for a session or show up without enclosed footwear, you agree to assume responsibility for your decision, and all associated risks that come with that decision.

Cleaning

As our home becomes yours too, please ensure you wipe down your area (bar, benches, boxes etc) after every single session using the wipes provided in the gym! This way we can all enjoy a clean workout station.
